It was a magical day!

Well, the call we've been waiting for finally came. We have been at Disneyland all week and had just sat down to enjoy lunch at the Blue Bayou next to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. It had been a beautiful day, one we'll remember forever. Shawn's cell phone rang and he said, "who lives in the 651 area code?" We looked at each other like, "Could this be the call?" Sure enough, it was Lindsay Newman at CHSFS. She said, "I have your referral, is this a good time?" As if such a call could ever be poorly timed! Lindsay told us all about the adoptee and then said she would send the information and his picture via electronic mail. We all sat patiently at the table and then there it was! Lindsay's electronic mail message. Shawn opened it up to look at his picture and immediately all the children in such excitement gathered 'round him. I snapped a photo of the occasion for all of you to see. It was quite a moment to hear all of their "oohs" and "aahhhs".

The waitress came out quite aware that something was afoot. We shared our story and showed her his cute picture on Shawn's SmartPhone. It felt a little weird saying , "Do you want to see a picture of our new son?"

So meet our newest addition: Girum Liyuneh Frasier. Girum Liyuneh is his African name, of course. And no, we don't know what we are going to call him yet. Girum means "impressive", in amahric, and looking at his picture, I am sure you will agree it is fitting. His big eyes are amazing, his pouty lip looks like he dislikes cameras and the wet hair means that someone worked hard to clean him up for his first photo shoot. His birthday is January 4th, 2007 and he was brought into the care of CHSFS on the 15th of January at the Hosanna Center. On the 20th of January he was transported to the center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He weighs a little over 7 lbs. and is 50.5 cm long.

The children are all so thrilled except Audrey, who wonders why he can't be a girl? Oh well, Audrey gets just about everything else she asks for so this will do her some good.

rah!!!Rah!!!- grandma Phyllis is so darn excited! It has been a long long morning. I checked the blog and no picture!!!!!!! What a letdown... We had to go move my Dad back to our house so as soon as we arrived back home I got onto your blogsite and could hardly say "Come look, he is on the blog"
Kit ran over quickly and I told my dad to come see his new great grandson. He was not quite sure what I meant, but after a reminder of the pending adoption He wanted to know where the baby was. I explained everything again and I think he will be ok, if for nothing else the great excitement in all of the extended family. We(Kit and me) sat taking every detail of his picture into our hearts. We just sat here for 10 minutes together,
looking and remembering the past-- many years ago when we all waited nervously for a picture referral of your brother-- Kim Jeun Keun.. Joy beyond compare was the feeling at first and then the waiting for him to arrive was simply unbearable. It is probably going the same way in your hearts....Disneyland is probably hard for you(Shawn and Jill)to concentrate on right now! Am I right? And of course, while Kit was sitting here looking at the photos, I had to hand him a hanky! He sure is an old softy. I am going to end my ramblings here and go back to the photos and see if Kit can print them so I can share them with my close friends who are excited to here the news. Love- Mom

What any exciting thing to see a picture of a new grandson and my 19th grandchild...How wonderful this opportunity is for you and for our family. I had tears in my eyes when I thought about his grandfather in Heaven (Grandpa Ralph) looking over him and caring for him while he waits for Shawn and Jill to take him home. grandma Joyce

Oh, what can we say? He's beautiful, and those fantastic eyes!! We sure hope he knows how lucky he is to join such a wonderful family. Hurry and go get him so we can hold him too! Grandma Wanda is so excited that she doesn't think she can sleep tonight. But she'll have good visions. He's truly beautiful. Grandpa Ralph did a great job picking him out. We love you all.

Wow, what an amazing pair: Jill and Shawn!!! I take strength from your blog! All the time and effort, wow. That alone is a tribute to your new baby. The most beautiful eyes on an infant I have ever seen. My favorite thing on the blog were the pictures and videos. We will have Family Home Evening around our computer Monday to give my children the journey across the world with your photos and experience. Matt Young said to me the other day, an adopted child himself, he has an ornament from his birth mother in his bedroom. The only thing he has. He told me of every detail on it. I can visualize him looking at that for years and years, a memory for him of his birth mother. Obviously very special to him. I hope you bring home something very special for him to remember his native home. Perhaps a piece of fabric, an instrument, a small jar of soil to always remind him of his heritage. All my love and support.

Lauren Pearson said, Wow! How cool is this! The Pearson family says, Go Frasiers!! What an amazing adventure you are having. That first phone call is an incredible feeling--It's been 11 years since our call about Lauren. The only thing better is being all together in the temple, being sealed as a family.

Much love,
Greg, Mindy and the crew

Hi, Frasier family,
Pam Carter called me this morning and shared your news with me. I've spent the last two hours on your blogspot walking through your journey with tears. I've been to Ethiopia twice with a hospice ministry, and the experience has marked me. Thanks for sharing your story in such a beautiful way. I'll be sharing your site with others. Congratulations and God bless you!

Jill and Shawn,
Congratulations, we are so happy for you! Our whole family gathered around the computer to look at your new baby boy. He's beautiful! What a beautiful picture of your family looking at his picture for the first time. It was kind of a strange thing to see my family looking at your family looking at your new baby! Love to you all!
